$20,000 Donated to Nieghborhood Food Pantries of West Chicago

August 30, 2022

Following Metallica’s performance at Lollapalooza 2022, AWMH granted $20,000 to Neighborhood Food Pantries of West Chicago. They have been providing nutritious food for hungry DuPage County neighbors since 1999, and nearly three million meals are distributed annually. Operating six food pantries in the Chicago suburbs of West Chicago, Warrenville, Carol Stream (2), Glendale Heights, and Wayne, Neighborhood Food Pantries serves approximately 10,000 individuals and all of DuPage County. In 2021 that included 4,000 children.

Proud of a lean and mean operation, they rely on over 150 volunteers and a small part-time staff to run things. Since they do not have sources of revenue, Neighborhood Food Pantries welcomes individual donors, corporate donors, the church community, and our support.

Here are some ways that our gift will positively impact the community:

  • $16,000 can provide fuel and maintain six pantry vans that are used for food rescue for one year
  • $10,000 can maintain freezers and refrigerators at all six pantries for one year
  • $10,000 can cover the cost of food purchased at the food bank
  • $7,000 can cover the cost of utilities at six pantries for one year
