2025 Month of Giving

Doubling Down On Trade Education For Sixth Annual Month Of Giving

MAY 1, 2025

Today marks the start of our sixth annual Month of Giving, and we’re doubling down on support for the skilled trades!

The importance of trade education and the need for a well-trained workforce continue to rise, so we are creating the Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI) Special Projects Fund. This fund will enable us to support our schools further as they develop newer and more robust courses within their career and technical education (CTE) programs.

Factors such as high demand, job security, and attractive earnings that often surpass traditional college-degree paths contribute to increased interest in skilled trades like construction, HVAC, and electrical work, particularly among younger generations. Community colleges in our program strive to expand their reach and engage future members of the workforce. They have the creativity and desire, but funding is necessary to achieve meaningful growth.

Learning about the special projects our community colleges are eager to implement reinvigorates our excitement as we head toward MSI Year 7. From Oxnard College’s Wildland Fire Academy Expansion to Spokane Community College’s proposal to allow their manufacturing students to keep the tools they received in the program after graduation, the needs are different, but the results will spell success for our scholars.

To help all of our schools across all 50 United States and Guam achieve their goals, all funds raised by Month of Giving 2025 will support the MSI Special Projects Fund. As always, 100% of donations will go to the schools, teachers, and students who make MSI so successful.

Because of supporters like you, our Month of Giving campaigns have raised over US$1.3 M for our charitable partners since launching in 2020! This year, we’ve got many different ways you can join us.

How to Participate

DONATE

We always welcome donations to the campaign. If you’d like to make a financial gift, visit allwithinmyhands.kindful.com to contribute to the “Month of Giving 2025" fund.

SHOP

Another way to give is by shopping in The Metallica Store!

2025 ALL WITHIN MY HANDS MONTH OF GIVING T-SHIRT

This year’s featured product is a limited edition t-shirt featuring art by Jeff Soto. The design was originally created for Munich’s April 26, 2018, Metallica show poster. AWMH has been lucky to have the support of some incredible artists over the years, and this piece is a beautiful example of that. Incorporating foundation-inspired elements, Soto updated his design with our colors and added our trademark M logo, guitar neck/headstock key!

This shirt will be available this month only! If you like what you see, place your preorder anytime between May 1 and May 31. The shirt will go into production and fulfillment when the purchase window ends.

SILVER LUTHIER ALL WITHIN MY HANDS KEYCHAIN

Silver Luthier is another artist who has long supported AWMH. Sales of his take on the aforementioned M logo key also benefit our Month of Giving Campaign this year. The gorgeous, made-to-order keychain is handcrafted from 100% oxidized silver, carved, cast, and finished in his shop in Nashville.

BAND HAND PORTRAIT METAL SET

Brett Murray is one of our resident Metallica artists, one of the tour photographers and videographers whose content we’ve all come to know and love. An idea that came to James Hetfield after seeing a piece of art in Amsterdam, Brett captured the band in a raw and intimate way, focusing on their tools of the trade: their hands and their instruments. These beautiful images are sold as a set of four 8” x 12” aluminum floating prints with a mid-gloss finish.

ALL WITHIN MY HANDS TONAL FLEX FIT HAT

Our final Month of Giving product is a tip of the cap, so to speak, to another artist we all know and love: the one and only Lars Ulrich. When the drummer wears baseball caps, they are almost exclusively all black. This All Within My Hands Tonal Flex Fit Hat was designed specifically with him in mind, but it happens to look great on everyone!

AUCTION

We will feature two auctions this month, with the first launching today!

METALLICA AUTOGRAPHED AWMH BASS DRUMHEAD

This first piece open for bidding screams—well… bangs—All Within My Hands. This 22” Remo Powerstroke P4 Ebony Bass Drumhead was designed for Lars Ulrich to commemorate Helping Hands 2024. Still in new, unplayed condition, it was autographed in silver Sharpie by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo in 2024 and inscribed by Lars with the word “METALLICA.” As always, our auction items include a verified hologram sticker and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

The auction will run until Thursday, May 15, at 12 PM PDT. While the second auction remains a surprise for now, we can tell you that it will begin the following day, Friday, May 16.

LOCAL CHAPTER FUNDRAISING COMPETITION

The highlight of Month of Giving is back again. We’re excited to see what local chapters of the Metallica Fan Club will accomplish in their friendly competition after raising a staggering $87.6K last year!

Just as before, fan club members will compete to raise the most money for AWMH, with the winner claiming bragging rights and amazing prizes. Whether you're a member of a local chapter or not, find the group you want to support and help them positively impact tomorrow's workforce!

We know this year will make a splash because Terreno Realty Corporation has committed to matching the first $50,000 raised by this competition! Workforce education resonates with Terreno Realty Corporation's leadership team, and they were inspired to join this campaign upon learning about Metallica Scholars Initiative and its new Special Projects Fund.

SHARE YOUR SUPPORT

One of the best ways to help AWMH grow is to increase awareness of our work by telling your friends about us. We’re lucky to have the Metallica Family support us, but we’re still relatively unknown. Every conversation you have and social media post you publish makes a difference for us.

We’re excited to share that our Facebook “Donate” function is back up and running. So create a fundraiser to share with your friends and tell them all about why our Month of Giving speaks to you! And when you do so, use the hashtags #AWMH, #MetallicaFamilyGivesBack, and #MonthOfGiving2025.

REMEMBER "THE WHY"

"Growing up, Metallica was always my Dad's favorite band. He passed just before I enrolled at UAA and was actually part of the reason why I enrolled. Receiving this scholarship reminds me of him and why I'm doing this. It feels like he's still helping me along."

Aaron Hackett, Metallica Scholar
Automotive/Diesel, University of Alaska-Anchorage

Our commitment to trade education began in 2019 with the creation of the Metallica Scholars Initiative. Over the past six years, we have learned just how meaningful our support has been. We know what we are doing is working and having a lasting impact, and there is no better time than now to focus on career and technical learning.
