2020 Month of Giving

Week Three - Bartender Emergency Assistance Program

May 19, 2020

With the turmoil and uncertainty created by the spreading COVID-19 virus, the service industry, and the beverage industry in particular, is being hit hard. The closure of bars, restaurants, and venues means that these vital members of the service community are no longer able to earn wages and take home tips.

The United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) is raising funds for their COVID-19 Relief Campaign in order to bolster their Bartender Emergency Assistance Program for the influx of applications for support that they know is coming. The USBG is there to help those in the service industry most in need, and ask you to "help us serve those who serve us."

On top of the $50,000 grant donated by AWMH, Metallica's own Blackened American Whiskey donated 100% of the profits from online sales during the entire month of April.

Our AWMH Associate Director, Renée Richardson, connected with Global Cocktail Creative and Blackened American Whiskey featured bartender, Bad Birdy of The House of Machines Los Angeles, to discuss how the service industry has been affected by COVID-19. Check out what she had to say.
