We’ve got an important correction to make. The Month of Giving 2026 Local Chapter Fundraising Competition Winner is actually MASSter of Puppets, who raised over $20K, officially making them not just this year's winner... but officially a 5x champion!
A reporting/accounting error resulted in Virginia Fuel’s total being incorrectly tallied. Virginia Fuel’s chapter head was helpful and very gracious in catching this error. Because of his honesty and how close the two chapters’ totals are (Virginia Fuel raised over $18K, we are pleased to share that we are duplicating the Grand Prize. Both MASSter of Puppets and Virginia Fuel will be our big winners! Thanks to all for bearing with us over this speedbump.
This year’s Local Chapter Fundraising Competition Second Prize Winner is… The Sunforgiven! They raised an impressive $1,910.70 to place their name on the spinning wheel, and the fates smiled upon them.
Thank you so much to all 29 local chapters who joined forces to raise a combined $84,682.98! This is a tremendous accomplishment that will help AWMH contribute to people in need through workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
Not just a fan favorite, but a staff favorite as well! The Local Chapter Fundraising Competition continues to be the highlight of Month of Giving, embodying the spirit of the Metallica Family and our #MetallicaGivesBack mantra. When the band launched AWMH back in 2017, the goal was to amplify the impact of good deeds by spreading awareness. Individually, we all have the power to make a positive difference. Together, we can create a movement! When we see the Local Chapters around the world get creative with events and turn up their passion for the Foundation, we feel that sense of community we set out to build.
Just as in years past, fan club members will compete to raise the most money for AWMH, with the winner claiming bragging rights and amazing prizes. Whether you're a member of a local chapter or not, find the group you want to support and help them work their way up the leaderboard. Last year, 28 chapters raised a combined $72,200.92; we can’t wait to see what you accomplish this year!
THE COMPETITION

All funds raised will go toward AWMH’s mission to create sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.
We will again utilize Kindful’s Crowdfunding feature, the method debuted through our donation platform during last year’s competition. The chapter heads who registered to participate received instructions to set up their team's page. If you don't see your chapter yet, be patient as they work through this process. If your chapter hasn't signed up, encourage your chapter head to do so!
If at any point during the fundraising contest (beginning on May 1, 2025) you’d like to participate on behalf of a Local Chapter but don’t see your chapter listed, don’t worry! Simply donate to our "Month of Giving 2026 - General Fund" and write in your chapter’s name on the following page in the field under “Dedicate this Donation in Honor or Memory of Someone.” But please note: All write-in donations will be tallied and added to the leaderboard at the conclusion of the competition.
