Fighting Hunger & Supporting Critical Local Services

Metallica’s M72 stop in Bucharest allowed AWMH the opportunity to give back to that community. In partnership with Live Nation and Emagic, Metallica and AWMH have selected two local nonprofit organizations that support hunger relief and critical local services for those in need in Bucharest: Social Food (organized by the Black Sea FooDignity Association) and Casa Iona.

What began as a project focused on raising awareness of the benefits of healthy eating and reducing food waste, Social Food Romania soon became a vital resource for the community during the 2020 pandemic. During that time, the #SolidarSocial program was launched. With the help of dozens of private donors, companies, and volunteers, Social Food Romania provided thousands of hot meals to medical staff and vulnerable people across the country. This work has expanded, and their efforts are now permanent under the #SocialFood program umbrella. Our donation will cover essential costs, including ingredients, meal preparation, logistics, and distribution. Over 1,000 hot meals are prepared every day, and our funds will help keep the program going. Social Food Romania is receiving RON 90.000.

The Casa Iona foundation is focused on making a positive difference in the lives of women and children facing domestic abuse and family homelessness. The organization addresses the multiple issues that underlie domestic violence, a highly successful formula that provides families with opportunities to emerge from desperate circumstances and begin their journey towards empowerment and economic independence. Our grant will allow Casa Ioana to provide welcome packs for every mother and child who arrives at our Family Shelter. For families escaping domestic abuse, the first hours in a safe space are critical. These welcome packs ensure that each family is met not with scarcity, but with dignity, comfort, and the reassurance that they are safe and valued. Casa Iona is receiving RON 90.000.
