#MetallicaGivesBack to Two Local Organizations in Columbus
MAY 12, 2025
Metallica’s stop in Columbus allowed AWMH the opportunity to give back within that community. Once again, Metallica and AWMH have chosen local nonprofit organizations to receive grants to support the community M72 visits in the areas of food insecurity and critical local services. Receiving funds in Columbus are Worthington Resource Pantry and The Open Shelter.

The Worthington Resource Pantry feeds its community by connecting neighbors to healthy food, resources, and each other, serving residents from eight ZIP codes with an income of less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Among its many services, the organization offers a wide range of grocery and personal care items, including fresh produce, dairy, meats, bread, and shelf-stable foods. It also provides Homebound Delivery services for clients with mobility or transportation challenges and Pop-Up Pantries at transitional housing locations, allowing neighbors to shop for food despite physical or mental health challenges. Along with our donation, Carhartt is also contributing to the pantry, making the total grant $65,000.

The Open Shelter is an Advocacy Center & Day Services Shelter for homeless and marginally-housed people in Central Ohio that serves as the hub for desperately needed outreach services. Each day, hundreds of people are forced to live “in the open,” on the streets, in abandoned buildings, on railroad land, and under bridges. Through the generosity of supporters, the shelter provides the basics of survival: hot meals, sack lunches, food, clothing, personal hygiene items, tarps, and sleeping bags. The Open Shelter is receiving $40,000.
