#MetallicaGivesBack to Two Local Organizations in Syracuse

APRIL 21, 2025

As the M72 World Tour revs back up, the takeovers continue, and do-goodery abounds! Once again, Metallica and AWMH have chosen local nonprofit organizations to receive grants to support the community M72 visits in the areas of food insecurity and critical local services. Receiving funds in Syracuse are the Food Bank of Central New York and the Syracuse Northeast Community Center.

Food Bank of Central New York is a Feeding America affiliate that envisions a community where everyone has access to nutritious food, and no one is hungry. It serves as the main food distribution hub for hundreds of partner agencies, encompassing the emergency food network in its 11-county service area. The Food Bank provides more than 22.2 million pounds of food – the equivalent of 18.5 million meals – to hungry individuals, families, children, and elderly every year. Along with our donation, Carhartt is contributing a matching gift to the food bank, making the total grant $45,000.

We must give special thanks to the Metallica fans who kicked off this tour by rolling up their sleeves and volunteering at the food bank in the name of AWMH. Fifteen Metallica fans from five different countries stopped by Food Bank of Central New York before the first night of M72 2025. In less than two hours, this small but mighty crew packed 1,210 bags of food destined for children in the Syracuse school district. Shout out to our longtime partners at Carhartt for keeping our volunteers cozy and stylish in these exclusive M72 x AWMH Brite Orange Knit Cuffed Beanies.

Syracuse Northeast Community Center engages, grows, and connects neighbors with services and programs that build self-reliance and well-being. Individuals who come to the facility in emergencies receive stabilizing services, are assessed to design a program of intervention, and are referred within SNCC’s programs and to its many community partners. The community center serves 7,500 community members annually, 97% of whom live in poverty. The organization’s Basic Needs Program is the primary gateway to engage neighbors in services that support their evolution toward self-sufficiency, supplying over 11,000 meals and 12,000 diapers monthly. We are honored to provide Syracuse Northeast Community Center with $20,000 to support their work.
