Nick began his education at a four-year university, but was disappointed by the lack of focus on practical application rather than theory. After taking a year off to work, his family discovered Gateway Technical College's Advanced Manufacturing Technology program, where he is now gaining the hands-on experience he craved.
“Every day’s a lab day. I’m actually excited to go to class.”
Of the MetallicaScholars funding that pays for his Introduction to Industrial Controls course, Nick said,
“I’m really thankful. It’s help and kindness I won’t forget.”
The support means more than just financial relief; it’s a source of motivation. One day, he hopes to pay it forward and support students like him.
