About AWMH

All Within My Hands is a non-profit, philanthropic organization created in 2017 by the members and management of Metallica, dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

Workforce Education

The 2025-2026 school year marks the seventh year of the Metallica Scholars Initiative. Together with our partners at the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), we have grown from 10 schools to 75 with a presence in all 50 United States + Guam, supporting a variety of career and technical education programs through a total of $13.5 million in grants.

The Fight Against Hunger

According to the USDA's annual Household Food Insecurity in the United States (2022), more than 44 million people in the US face hunger, including 1 in 5 children.

While Metallica has made supporting local food banks a priority for years, the creation of AWMH and our partnerships with Feeding America and World Central Kitchen have enabled us to take that giving to the next level.

Critical Local Services

From natural disasters like wildfires, hurricanes, and earthquakes to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the need for disaster relief comes in many forms.

To maximize our impact, we have partnered with Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. Direct Relief's established international network allows them to act quickly and efficiently to provide funding and resources needed in an emergency.

Our Signature Events

The Helping Hands Concert & Auction

Whether taking the stage at the intimate Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, streaming live from HQ straight into living rooms around the globe, or packing theaters in Los Angeles, a unique, part-acoustic Metallica concert makes for one hell of a fundraiser!

Over the years, we've been fortunate to have star power from the likes of Jimmy Kimmel, Robert Downey Jr., Jason Momoa, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff, Tom Morello, RZA, Jeff Ament, Greta Van Fleet, St. Vincent, SistaStrings, Mike Rowe, and Tony Hawk lend their support to our cause. Funds raised through ticket sales, auction items and experiences, merch, sponsorship, and donations have resulted in millions of dollars toward our efforts to support workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.

Month of Giving

When we launched AWMH, we envisioned a future where Metallica fans would activate in droves to give back. After only a year and a half, we saw our dreams come to fruition. In May of 2018, we hosted our first Day of Service with help from our partners at Feeding America. All four band members spent time at a local food bank in their communities, and their efforts were amplified by over 1,000 dedicated fans doing the same. Day of Service volunteer numbers tripled in its second year, but COVID-19 necessitated a change in our plans for year three. With health and safety as a priority, we knew we needed to get creative to continue our tradition of a large-scale fundraising event during the month of May. From that need, the Month of Giving was born, and it still stands as our most collaborative fundraiser of every year!

Our Month of Giving campaigns have raised funds for COVID relief, Feeding America, Direct Relief, World Central Kitchen's #ChefsForUkraine campaign, The Farmlink Project, and our own Metallica Scholars Initiative. Among the methods for raising money during Month of Giving are sales of limited edition merch, auctions, sweepstakes, and donations. However, the Local Chapter Fundraising Competition is the shining example of what AWMH is all about. Metallica Fan Club Chapters from around the world face off against each other every year for the chance to win awesome prizes. But each time, the real winner is AWMH; since 2021, these generous members of the #MetallicaFamily have raised nearly $350K through their competition alone!

This Is Only The Beginning...

While we could not be more excited about what All Within My Hands has accomplished since 2017, we know there is much more work to be done, and we're here to do it. But we can't do it alone! If our work speaks to you, please consider joining our newsletter to stay updated on all AWMH activities or making a donation today.
